Scientist II/Senior Scientist – Protein Chemistry

Role Summary

Aliada Therapeutics is currently looking for a Senior Scientist to be a part of the growing Protein Chemistry team. You will play a leading role in the design, generation, and characterization of molecules to support the discovery of novel brain penetrating therapeutics.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform essential molecular design for the creation of novel multi-specific biotherapeutic constructs.
  • Collaborate with our network of preferred providers to lead the generation, characterization and testing of molecules supporting discovery.
  • Designs analyses and interprets experiments with input from project or technical teams.
  • Demonstrate independent thinking, e.g., by proposing and implementing new experimental designs and concepts that contribute to research goals and reflect expert knowledge
  • Effectively communicate and defend own work, orally and in writing, in the context of the team goals at meetings.
  • Demonstrates clear understanding of assigned tasks producing test results or reagents. Understands how these are used and insures proper reporting.
  • Keep abreast of relevant literature and serve as resource in area of specialized expertise.
  • Complies with all applicable regulations; Maintains proper records in accordance with SOPs and policies.

Skills and Requirements:

  • Ph.D. Degree, with a minimum of 2 years of postdoctoral and/or industry experience with a track record of results in the field of Protein Biochemistry.
  • Hands-on experience with bioinformatic design, molecular biology, protein production (eukaryotic expression systems) and characterization.
  • Ability to work within a collaborative team environment and present and defend results to project and technical teams.
  • Experience in enzyme / antibody production and engineering is preferred.
  • Knowledge of immunoglobulin structure and function is preferred.
  • Knowledge and experience with oligo (ASO / siRNA) therapeutics is preferred.
  • Knowledge and experience with biomolecule conjugation is preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to generate novel ideas and concepts.
  • Ability to plan and organize laboratory experiments and evaluate/ interpret data.
  • Ability to propose new experimental designs, conduct probing experiments.
  • Ability to multi-task and organize multiple efforts simultaneously.

Senior Research Associate – Biology

Role Summary

Aliada Therapeutics is currently searching for a Senior Research Associate with experience in cell-based assays and animal management to join the Oligonucleotide team. The successful candidate will help execute and analyze cell-based assays, assist in developing and onboarding new biochemical and cell-based assays, and assist in mouse colony management.

Responsibilities:

  • Work in a cross-functional team to advance ASO or siRNA knockdown modalities for therapeutic applications.
  • Plan and execute experiments to evaluate and optimize oligonucleotide-design in cell-based assays.
  • Participate in the design and scaling of assays for drug candidate screening in cell-based assays.
  • Analyze and interpret data from molecular pharmacology studies.
  • Assist in mouse colony management and tissue collection.
  • Maintain detailed records of experiments.
  • Attend and present data at internal team meetings.

 Skills and Requirements:

  • BS/MS in biology, biochemistry, cellular/molecular biology, or related discipline with 3+ years of post-graduate research experience in an academic or industry setting. PhD with 0+ years of post-graduate research experience will also be considered.
  • Experience in cell and molecular biology including mammalian cell culture, mRNA isolation/quantitation by qPCR, sequencing (NGS/Sanger), protein quantification by ELISA and western blot is required.
  • Experience with animal colony management, animal handling, in vivo surgeries, and in vivo protocol writing is highly desired.
  • Hands-on experience in working with samples in 96- or 384-well plate format is desired.
  • Familiarity with CNS disease models, DNA/RNA editing tools, and oligonucleotide therapeutics is a plus.
  • Outstanding aptitude for experimental design and execution, efficient assay development and creative problem solving.
  • Capacity to be highly productive in a fluid and fast-paced work environment.
  • Committed and collaborative team player
